About vestr

vestr AG is a fast-growing and well-funded startup company in the financial technology space (“fintech”). We provide tailored software services to leading banks and asset managers and our white-labeled platform is frequently referred to as the engine behind active management. The company was founded by experienced industry veterans and our investors include SIX Group – which runs the Swiss Stock Exchange – as well as some large banks and professional investors.

We build on modern technologies, maintain a laser-sharp focus on the needs of our clients and strive to continuously improve our offering. Our goal is to become the market standard and we need your help to get there!

Job Description

As part of our front-end engineering team, you will be implementing modern and data-driven user interfaces for our AMC trading platform using cutting edge front-end technologies. You will be an integral part in developing new intricate trading workflows, complex financial reports, and lean dashboards. You will be integrating with the backend using a modern GraphQL interface, and you will be evolving your front-end architecture around the newest technologies within the React ecosystem.
Last but not least, you will work in an international team full of talented employees spread across offices in Zurich, Singapore, Lviv, and Kyiv.

Skills and Qualifications

We realize that everyone is different, and we value diversity. For this reason, we don’t have a definite checklist of must-have attributes we require from a talented back-end developer.

Instead, we value a thirst for knowledge, a passion for technology – and life! – and a drive to move things forward. To make it easier for you, here are some of the quantitative skills our current developers bring to the table:

  •  Proficient understanding of web markup, including HTML5 and CSS3
  •  Proficient in React/Redux including new APIs such as Context API and Hooks
  •  Advanced understanding of Javascript including ES6 and ES20xx, functional programming, async/await and generators/iterators
  •  Understanding of code versioning tools
  •  Expertise in TypeScript including relevant work experience with React and TypeScript
  •  Knowledge of web standards, e.g. native DOM, Event APIs, web workers, etc., as well as cross-vendor compatibility issues and ways to work around them
  •  Experience with server-side rendering and routing, Redux-Saga, CSS-in-JS libraries, Apollo GraphQL, and test-driven development with JEST and storybook
  •  A Master’s degree in computer science, mathematics, physics, or engineering
  •  Good English skills (oral and written)
  •  Clear and reliable communication

What we offer

Aside from competitive compensation, we offer many benefits including 25 vacation days, 10 sick leave days, remote work, handling of your taxes and invoices, and a people-first company culture with zero bureaucracy.
As a product company, we have a strong focus on quality and quality assurance: all pull requests are subject to mandatory code reviews, new features are extensively tested by a QA team, and we do not cut corners.
We speak technology: Bi-weekly tech meetings offer an opportunity for developers to share their contributions to the codebase with the rest of the team, discuss pain points, or simply demo a new library that was presented last week at one of the big code conferences. We emphasize collaboration in our development processes: the team is eager to help you with questions regarding business or software architecture at any time.
Currently, we have an office location in Lviv and regularly organize team events around Lviv area. Engineers from Kyiv are offered to join those events as well. As an interesting note, the engineering manager in Lviv was a very early technical employee in Switzerland and is also part of the architecture team. You can always count on his support – even if it is as simple as a chat over coffee!
